About Practical PC
Practical PC is a troubleshooting website for people who use Windows at home, at school, or in a small office. The aim is simple: you have a computer problem, you can identify it, try safe steps, and know when to stop.
Who writes the guides
Guides are published under the Practical PC editorial team byline. That name means editors who work on this site, not a fictional certified technician, not a lab, and not a shop that has "tested this on 50 PCs."
We would rather leave a byline generic than invent qualifications. If a future article is written by a named person with relevant experience, that will be stated as a fact on that article.
How information is researched
Steps are based on official documentation where it exists (Microsoft, browser vendors, PC makers) and on failure patterns that show up repeatedly in support work. We explain why a step is worth trying, not only what to click.
Dates on articles are the publication or last editorial update. They are not a promise that Windows menus will never change.
What we will not do
- Recommend pirated software, cracks, or unofficial Windows activators.
- Send you to random "driver booster" or "PC cleaner" downloads.
- Treat turning off antivirus as a normal first step.
- Pretend an error code has only one cause.
Editorial rules are in the editorial policy. To report a mistake, see corrections or contact.
