IP Address Checker

See the public IP address this website received from your connection. We do not store visitor IP addresses, and we do not claim to know your street.

Public IP address

216.73.216.10

Type shown here: IPv4

Your IP address is provided by your internet connection. It does not necessarily reveal your exact physical location.

If websites still fail even though this tool shows a public IP, continue with DNS troubleshooting or partial website failures.

How this tool works

The page asks a small endpoint on this site. That endpoint reads the connecting address from the HTTP request. On Vercel it uses the platform's forwarding header; on Cloudflare-fronted deploys it can use Cloudflare's connecting-IP header. Direct local servers use the hop this process actually accepted, so a browser cannot spoof a public IP via X-Forwarded-For while you are on localhost.

The endpoint is not cached. It does not write addresses to a log in our code, put them in the page URL, or send them to analytics. We do not call a geolocation company. If you are on Cloudflare in production, a two-letter country code may appear, treat it as a hint from the network path, not a map pin.

Important limitations

We cannot show both IPv4 and IPv6 unless this visit used both. We do not display ISP or ASN names, because that would mean sending your IP to a third-party database. Localhost and private LAN addresses are explained, not presented as a public internet IP.

Frequently asked questions

What is a public IP address?

It is the address your internet connection presents to websites on the public internet. Your ISP routes replies back to it. This tool reports that address only when our server (or a trusted proxy in front of it) actually received a public address.

Why am I seeing ::1 on localhost?

::1 is the IPv6 loopback address, the same idea as 127.0.0.1. When you open this site on the same PC that is running the server, the connection never leaves the machine, so there is no public IP to read. That is expected. After the site is deployed on the public internet, the production server can see the address your ISP used to reach it.

What's the difference between public and private IP addresses?

Private addresses (for example 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, and 172.16 to 31.x.x) are used inside a home or office network. Loopback (::1 and 127.0.0.1) only means "this same computer." A public IP is the one visible on the internet. This tool will not label loopback or private addresses as a public IP.

Can an IP address reveal my exact location?

No. A public IP can sometimes suggest a country or ISP region, but it does not give a street address. We do not look up ISP or map data here, and we do not store your IP.

IPv4 vs IPv6?

IPv4 looks like 203.0.113.10. IPv6 is longer and uses colons. A PC can have both. This page shows whichever address reached our server on this visit, usually one of them, not both at once.

Why might my IP change?

Many home connections get a new public IP when the router restarts or the ISP recycles leases. A VPN shows the VPN's address instead of your home address.
