Editorial policy
Purpose
Articles should help a non-technical Windows user make progress without creating a worse problem. Speed of publishing does not outrank safety or accuracy.
Research
- Prefer vendor documentation and built-in Windows tools over unofficial utilities.
- Describe the Windows 11 Settings names we expect, and admit when menus differ by edition.
- Do not copy other websites. Write the procedure in our template, in our words.
Review
Before a guide is published it is checked against the article template: short answer, symptoms, causes, reversible steps first, commands explained, and a clear "if this continues" section. Dangerous advice (registry edits, disabling security, unofficial downloads) is rejected unless a rare case truly requires it and the risk is spelled out. Most guides will never need those steps.
Updates
When a step is wrong, Windows changes a menu, or a reader flags a problem, we update the article and change the updated date. We do not silently rewrite history to hide a mistake; see corrections.
Independence
This site may show advertisements or affiliate links in the future. They will not be allowed to change troubleshooting advice. We do not accept payment to recommend a "fixer" app.
